Qlik Sense Writeback with History Logging

Qlik Sense Writeback with History Logging

Posted on 14th July, 2025 | By Admin

When users edit data inside Qlik Sense, it’s easy to lose track of what was changed, who changed, and when. With SenseOps Writeback, you can now capture every change automatically using a history table — no scripting required.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. 1. Duplicate your base table (e.g., order_sales) → name it order_sales_history
  2. 2. Add the history table to your Writeback setup
  3. 3. Map the fields to the duplicated table

Once done, every edit in the app creates a new row in the history table. SenseOps automatically logs who made the change and when using built-in system fields (created_by, created_at).

This setup helps you:

  • Track changes across all editable fields
  • Maintain a reliable audit trail
  • Avoid overwriting important data
  • Review historical changes easily during approvals or analysis

Ideal for teams managing operational data, workflows, or user inputs where traceability is a must.
